The cheapest countries to live in that offer a nomad visa
54 active programmes ranked by what a month actually costs one person, housing included. The figure is not from a crowdsourced site: it is household consumption from national accounts — World Bank, or the UN Statistics Division where the World Bank has no series — divided by population and by twelve. So it is what someone who lives there spends, not what you will spend. A newcomer renting at market rates spends more, and most of all in the cheapest countries on this list. The city figures on each country page are the correction to that, and they say plainly that they are crowdsourced.

How this list is made
Cheap to live in is not the same as cheap to qualify for, and the two rankings disagree: a country can ask very little of a resident and a great deal of an applicant. Read this list beside the cheapest-visa one rather than instead of it. Every figure here includes housing, because national accounts count the imputed rent of owner-occupiers — so it is not a "without rent" number of the kind the crowdsourced sites publish, and the two cannot be compared directly.
Every row here was checked against the immigration ministry, the law itself or an embassy page, in that order, and the cost-of-living figure carries the grade that checking earned: 53 high , 1 low. The country page behind each name carries the statute or the official page it came from, so you can check it yourself rather than take it on trust. Data checked .
