Legal basis: Act 404/2011 on Residence of Aliens. The Ministry of Interior's residence page enumerates the temporary-residence purposes - business, employment, study, special activity, research and development, family reunification, service duties with the civilian components of the armed forces, the status of a Slovak living abroad, long-term residence in another member state, and the Blue Card - and remote work for a foreign employer is not among them. No dedicated nomad permit, and none of the residence purposes the Ministry of Interior publishes covers remote work for a foreign employer. The route people use is a zivnostensky list, a trade licence from the district office, and then temporary residence for the purpose of business. Like Serbia's, that makes you a local business rather than a visiting remote worker. Since the 1 July 2025 amendment to Act 404/2011 a first application for business residence can only be filed at a Slovak embassy abroad, with no territorial exceptions - you cannot arrive on the Schengen 90 days and convert. Schengen, so 90 days in any 180 is available without any of it.
